The Salmon House, Fortingall, Perthshire, PH15 7LT
The Salmon House has a peaceful courtyard location in the picturesque Arts & Crafts village of Fortingall, about 8 miles from Aberfeldy; one of Scotland's prettiest hamlets, Fortingall is surrounded by the glorious landscapes of Highland Perthshire, spectacular mountains and only 2 miles from the north shores of Loch Tay.
Part of a charming conversion on old farm buildings, 'steadings', the Salmon House used to be the smokery for the salmon from the nearby river Lyon, which flows into the Tay. The two bedroomed cottage is superbly appointed and provides an excellent base for touring and walking, or just relaxing. The Fortingall Hotel is across the courtyard from the cottage as is the famous Yew, at 4,000 years old, supposedly the oldest living tree in Europe.
